Introduction to The Langkawi Wedding Trip

2 years. That's how long it has been since I last took an International trip solely for the purposes of leisure - which is the longest I've ever gone without a Vacation overseas - ever! The reason has been that I had been out of Australia so long, I couldn't really travel too much more while I re-applied for my Australian PR - but having recently received the updated PR, this trip came up at the right time. However a close family friend of mine was getting married in April, so I decided to find the coolest way to get to Langkawi using flights - even though it turned out to be incredibly wasteful in time (stopovers, flight changes, bag re-check-ins) when there were direct routes I could have taken. But all was worth it to travel with Singapore and Emirates in First Class - two Airlines I had never flown First Class with, both of which I have always wanted to fly with.

I also decided to stop over in KL (Kuala Lumpur) to see some friends and family I hadn't seen in over 2 years and make a real 'Vacay' out of it. Following that, I'd get to Langkawi and check out the much talked about St Regis there as I stayed with family and met up with friends and family friends at the wedding. As far as trips go - it's a quick and busy one spanning over 7-8 days including travel time.

Flights were booked with a mixture of points and paying, so I'll go into details on how I got around booking each flight and hotel as we go into each article individually. This is obviously a smaller trip review, but there's a massive 6 week travel holiday coming up in June, so there's always that to look forward to! With that in mind, I packed my wedding outfits and was on my way to Singapore and Malaysia!
